The NUM-Dashboard project provides an insight into the future of cross-site technological collaboration in the field of patient care and research. It demonstrates the possibility of merging medical data from various hospital information systems of participating university hospitals in near-real-time and presenting it to the public in compliance with the highest data protection requirements. The integration of near-real-time data streams from GP practices enables cross-sector pandemic monitoring.
The COVID-19 and Influenza sections aim to contribute to the preparedness of the healthcare system for (pandemic) infection scenarios. The graphical representations of inpatient care, the regional distribution of patients affected by infections, age distribution and immunization status, variants and subtype diagnostics and other aspects provide valuable insights into current situations.
The KinderRadar section focuses on the presentation of selected data on child and adolescent health in Germany, specifically on the frequency of diagnoses in hospitalized children and adolescents and on the frequency of RSV-related (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) upper respiratory tract infections in children and adolescents. The tool is being developed further for use in patient care and research in a cross-location collaboration between several sites and already offers insights into selected key areas.
All medical data is analyzed anonymously at the individual sites, and only highly aggregated analysis results are merged centrally. Patients can, therefore, be guaranteed that all data and information is processed with the utmost care and remains protected at the site.
Overall, the current version of the NUM-Dashboard does not claim to be complete. But this project provides an insight into the future of interoperable data processing and use.
